Yamaha Royal Star, Yamaha Thinks Big Bike

Motorcycle ReviewsIn a casual conversation with one of the Yamaha people, we found that Yamaha has introduced in the line of expectation, a whole line of biker motorcycles. One model in particular got our attention. Yamaha Thailand is now officially selling the Yamaha Royal Star in Thailand.

The Yamaha Royal Star is a best described as the best of two worlds, stripped-down street cruisability and plush long-distance touring capability in one motorcycle with the quick-change windshield and passenger backrest. The DOHC, 4 valves per cylinder 1294cc liquid-cooled 70 degree V-four engine, with a 79mm bore and 66mm stroke producing 10:1 compression ratio push you back and reminds you why they invented big bikes. This baby gives you 97hp at 6000rpm with a good throttle response from four heated Mikuni 32mm carburetors with TPS delivering seamless throttle response and greater power across the entire rev range where ever you go.
The engine is tuned to put out class-leading power for incomparable cruising performance. Compact-design dual intake system enhances performance without sacrificing fuel tank capacity. The wide-ratio five-speed transmission with 4th and 5th gear overdrive provides plenty of highway passing power as well as low-rpm, fuel-efficient cruising and the low-maintenance hydraulic clutch actuation and strong, low-maintenance shaft drive for touring convenience.

The large-capacity radiator ensures superior engine cooling for maximum efficiency, even in our tropical Thai climate.

The high-integrity, single-backbone frame with solid engine mounting and 29-degree caster angle delivers responsive steering and excellent handling. Of course the suspension is also something Yamaha looked at an air-adjustable telescopic front fork with 14cm of travel smoothen's out the bumps and adapts to varying load capacities. Air-adjustable link-type rear suspension features a vertically mounted mono-shock with revised damping for a classic hard-tail look and outstanding long-distance riding quality. The 171.50cm wheelbase provides a smooth highway ride and plenty of room for rider and possible passenger.

For more rural cruising comfort the Yamaha Royal Star comes with electronic cruise control with right handlebar controls for ease of use and quick-detachable windshield and backrest let the rider optimize the bike quickly without tools.

The Yamaha Royal Star was in the USA introduced just a few weeks ago and is from now also available from selected dealers in Thailand.

Hi! Who are the selected dealers for this? Is the Yamaha behind Esplanade going to be stocking this bike? Thanx for any info!
This bike is official available from Yamaha Thailand, Yamaha Thailand has to what they say a select amount of dealers nation wide. Who or where this dealers are is not known to us.

For parts, Yamaha Thailand was one of the first which had spare parts for big bikes, even before they had big bikes..
