50 Year Anniversay Edition of the Triumph Bonneville

Motorcycle NewsThe Triumph Bonneville has attained classic status. The Bonnie, as it is fondly known, has been adored by movie icons Steve McQueen, James Dean and Marion Brando to George Clooney, Nicholas Cage and Tom Cruise. The British street idol is all set to turn 50 and Triumph is celebrating by launching two special editions. The one-off design have been made by fashion house Belstaff and renowned actor and biker, Ewan McGregor.

Belstaff's design incorporates a sophisticated black and gold color scheme that gels with the brand's designer identity. The special Bonnie gets gold seat cowl and black and gold pannier bag. Belstaff is also creating a limited edition biker style jacket to mark the anniversary.

McGregor's design reflects Triumph Bonneville's rich heritage. The lustrous bike features a copper-plated fuel tank and black waxed cotton seat as well as side panels by Belstaff. McGrgor admits to having drawn inspiration from one of his own vintage bikes. Ewan explains, "I wanted to use a traditional waxed cotton material as it has suck a resonance with the history of style in motorcycling and mix it with the tradition of coppering tanks. I'm a huge fan of Steve McQueen and his film from the 1960s, and the front that I have chosen for the Triumph logo harks back to that golden era of biking."
